The national assembly on thursday night passed the bbi on its second reading with 224 voting for it , 63 voting against and 2 abstaining.The senate is expected to debate the bill next week tuesday.

Only on wednesday did the President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga asked Members of parliament of both houses to pass the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

It was rather expected that MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto and the Tanga Tanga faction would vote against the Bill but majority of those against came from eastern and riftvalley region
