The headteacher of Kiricha Primary School headteacher in Bomet County has absconded duty for three consecutive days after he allegedly defiled a 13-year-old grade six pupil last week.
According to Sotik Sub-County police boss Francis Ng’anga, the suspect reportedly lured the victim into his office at 5 pm while the other children were out in the field.
Nganga said his officers have been frequenting the school in an effort to record statements of the suspect but he hasn’t resurfaced since.
“If he is innocent, he should come out and perform his duties as usual. We are working with education officials in the sub-county to help us trace his whereabouts,” said the police boss.
On Wednesday, students were told to stay at home to allow parents and education officers to come up with a solution where parents threatened to withdraw their children from the school if the suspect is allowed back to head the school.
