farmers in the counties of Uasin Gishu and Trans-Nzoia are in state of panic after chances of increase in price dampen by the imports from neighboring countries of Tanzania and Uganda.

Ugandan and Tanzanian maize has greeted the Kenyan market, raising worries in farmers that this will diminish any prospect of price increase of the local produce in coming days.

Trans-Nzoia and Uasin Gishu traders have flooded the region with imports from Uganda effectively pushing down the price to Sh2,200 for a 90-kilogramme bag from Sh2,300 a.

Millers are also stocking the grain on expectations that supplies will fall in coming weeks.
