Bomet County Governor Dr. Hillary Barchok has launched a drive to wipe out ‘rising’ malnutrition especially in young children through what he terms as ‘deliberate measures’
“We are concerned with the rising levels of malnutrition and diet-related non communicable diseases especially among young children in our county and we taking deliberate measures to address this situation.” said the governor.
The governor while launching the Bomet County Nutrition Action Plan (2020-2025) said this will guarantee food security and sufficiency.
In its efforts, the county has doubled the nutrition personnel in this malnutrition fight from 27 in 2017 to 52 while also tripling the budget allocation.
Moroever, the county is set to start its school feeding programme.
“we are almost concluding plans to kickstart the school feeding programme. We have already acquired equipment to process milk for this project, in our Chebunyo Dairy plant which is set to start it’s operations in a few weeks to come.” Governor Barchok added.
Bomet county is partnering with World Vision kenya, Kenya red cross society, Dig deep, Walter reed project
